Frequently asked questions
Downloads, formats, licensing and accounts — answered in one place.
Is everything really free?
Yes. Browsing, previewing and downloading are free, for personal and commercial projects. See Licensing for the exact grant and its limits.
Do I need an account?
No — downloads work for guests. You only need an account to request missing icons, manage your profile, or download recolored Lottie JSON from the color editor.
Do I have to give attribution?
No, attribution is appreciated but not required. A "Icons by Illustricon" credit with a link helps the library grow, but it is optional.
Can I use assets in client or commercial work?
Yes — client sites, SaaS products, mobile apps and ads are all covered. What you can't do is resell the raw files or redistribute them as a competing library.
What formats can I download?
SVG icons download as SVG (plus PNG and framework-ready React exports where available). Lottie animations download as JSON for use with lottie-web, lottie-react, iOS and Android players. See how to use & download icons for framework snippets.
How do I edit colors or sizes?
Open any Lottie asset page to use the built-in color editor, then download the customized JSON (signed-in users). SVGs can be recolored in any vector tool — or inline the file and change the fill/stroke attributes directly.
Can I request an icon that isn't in the library?
Yes — signed-in members can request an icon. Popular requests get drawn first, so describe the use case and the size it must read at.
Something is broken — how do I report it?
Use the contact form and include the page URL, your browser and (for playback bugs) your framework. Reports with a URL get fixed fastest.
